
Spartanburg – Judson Noah Seay, Jr., age 86, passed away on June 29, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital. He is the last surviving sibling of his family.
Mr. Seay was born in Spartanburg County on May 3, 1924 to the late Judson Noah and Annie Solsbee Seay. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Medical Core with the United States Army during World War II, stationed in Burma, India. Mr. Seay played baseball in the Textile League and he coached and umpired Little League Baseball. He was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church where he served as general secretary and usher and was also a member of the Young at Heart and the K. E. Fain Sunday School Class. Mr. Seay was employed with Fairforest Finishing Company for 27 years and retired from Tietex International. He was an avid USC Gamecock fan.
Drayton, SC – Ola Buchanan, 92, formerly of 25 Spring Street, died at Magnolia Place of Spartanburg on Sunday, June 27, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Floyd R. and Lillie Duggins Buchanan of Drayton. Mrs. Lytle was married to the late Herman D. Lytle for fifty-three years.
Mrs. Lytle was a faithful member of Drayton Baptist Church for more than eighty years. She served as church hostess, WMU President, and Sunday School class teacher. Mrs. Lytle was also a member of the choir and delivered tapes of the service to shut-ins. She lived a remarkable life of service for her Savior. Mrs. Lytle made many lifelong friends as a loyal employee of Drayton Mill where she worked in the weave room.

Spartanburg – Werner Dreher passed away on Friday, June 25, 2010 at the age of 66. He died of an ongoing battle with esophageal cancer. He was at home under the care of family and hospice.
Werner was born on January 14, 1944 in Winterthur-Toess, Switzerland. He was the son of the late Franz and Verena Dreher. He graduated in 1959 from Winterhur-Toess High School and went on to receive a degree in Mechanical Engineering and serve in the Swiss Army. Werner was married to Verena Rey on July 5th, 1969 in Winterthur. In 1969, Werner accepted employment with Sulzer Rueti as a Textile Engineer and traveled throughout Europe, America, Australia and numerous other countries, providing customer service in the textile area.
Spartanburg – Gary Lynn Sawyer, age 66, a son of the late James Robert and Marietta Gossett Sawyer died Friday, June 25, 2010 at Magnolia Manor of Inman. He was a former resident of Skylyn Place.
Gary was a graduate of Dorman High School and was retired from the textile industry. He was a member of Fairforest Masonic Lodge #393 and a Shriner.
Gary is survived by a brother Dennis R. Sawyer of Spartanburg and a number of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by a brother James R. Sawyer, Jr. and a sister Karen Sawyer Blanken.

Spartanburg – Francis Parker Champion, M.D., age 84, died June 18, 2010.
Dr. Francis Parker Champion was born September 4, 1925, in Greer, SC. He was a son of the late Burley Edgar and Corrie Cannon Champion. After graduating from Greer High School in 1942, he honorably served in the US Army Medical Corps in Europe during WWII from 1943 to 1946. Dr. Champion attended the Citadel and Wofford College. After graduating from Wofford College in 1950 with a Bachelors degree in science, he taught biology and chemistry at Greer High School for two years. In 1956 he received an M.D. degree from Medical University of South Carolina. Upon graduating from MUSC, he interned at Spartanburg General Hospital and began a family practice in Spartanburg, SC, on January 1, 1957. He was honored to have provided medical care to many, many wonderful people in the Spartanburg community, and he deeply appreciated their faith, trust, and friendship.

Moore – Rita Lynn Edge Dill, age 53, wife of James E. Dill, died Saturday, June 19, 2010.
Rita was born April 6, 1957 in Spartanburg to the late Carl Julian and Betty Jo Huckaby Edge. She was a life long resident of the Poplar Springs Community and worked at the Lyman Post Office for 15 years.
In addition to her husband of 30 years, Rita is survived by a daughter, Stacey D. Stokes (Jason) of Moore; two step-sons, Mark E. Dill (Darci) of Duncan, Jamie L. Dill of Moore; three brothers, Carl J. Edge, Jr., of Greer, Donnie Edge (Tammy) of Greenwood, Jeff Edge (Rona) of Moore; a sister, Patsy Pruitt (Bill) of Duncan; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ryan Stokes.

Boiling Springs, SC – Virginia Anne Kelley, age 44, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 10, 2010.
Anne was born November 6, 1965 in Verdun, France to Leocadie and the late Robert Lee Joyner, Jr. She was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School and a volunteer at the Upstate Family Resource Center. Anne enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and spending time with children. She was of the Baptist faith.
Spartanburg – Janet Falzarano White, age 48, died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Regional Hospice Home.
Born in New York City, NY on November 27, 1961, Janet was a daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary Fitzpatrick Falzarano. She attended the High School of Art and Design, New York City and was a graduate of the Art Institute of Atlanta. Janet formerly owned and operated Espresso Café and Broadway Bagels. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
Spartanburg – Virginia Southard Brookshire, age 95, died peacefully Thursday, June 10, 2010 at White Oak Manor, Spartanburg.
Born in Franklin, NC on August 5, 1914, Mrs. Brookshire was a daughter of the late Jesse Robert and Hattie Angie Carpenter Southard. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Clinton Brookshire. Mrs. Brookshire was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Brookshire is survived by a daughter, Brenda Lee and husband Joe of Moore, SC; two grandchildren, Randy Lee and wife, Melissa of Simpsonville and Amy Lee of Huntersville, NC; and four great-grandchildren.

Spartanburg, S.C. – Elsie Lorene Crain Jennings, age 82, passed away Friday, June 04, 2010 at Wallace Thompson Hospital.
Born February 12, 1928 in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late George Thomas and Lucy Flowers Crain. Mrs. Jennings was a graduate of Roebuck High School and retired from Arkwright Mills. She was a member of Truth Chapel World Evangelism Fellowship Church.
Mrs. Jennings is survived by three sons, Franklin Jennings and wife Lucille of Roebuck, Donald Jennings and wife Janice of Spartanburg and Johnny Jennings and wife, Elaine also of Spartanburg; a brother, Ronnie Crain and wife Joyce of Glendale; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Bill Crain and a sister, Catherine Brewer.
