Robert Linder Tipton (May 1, 1948 – October 23, 2009)

Spartanburg – Robert Linder Tipton, 61, went to be with the Lord October 23, 2009 at his home.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, Robert was the son of the late Charles F. Tipton, Jr. and Marjorie Skelton Tipton. He was a carpenter, enjoyed construction work and attended Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Robert is survived by three daughters, Tivoli Spelman of Spartanburg, Cindy Hembree of Roebuck, and Ysabel Tipton of Roebuck; Two brothers, Charles Tipton III and Steve Tipton; three sisters, Nancy Boyd, Cheryl White, and Karen Roberts; and 4 grandchildren.

Steve M. Satterfield (May 15, 1964 – October 22, 2009)

Spartanburg – Steven Mack Satterfield, Jr., age 45, entered eternal rest October 22, 2009.

Born in Sumter, SC, Steven was the son of Steven M. and Barbara Woodall Satterfield, Sr. Steve was a life long member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, and faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corp.

Steven is survived by his wife, Jenifer Green Satterfield; two daughters, Jessica Satterfield, of Charlotte, NC and Stefanie Satterfield, of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Keleigh S. Collins, of Albany, Ga, and Susan Frehse, of New York City, NY, and many nieces and nephews.

Matthew Ibson Kahn (July 10, 1965 – October 20, 2009)

Moore, SC – Matthew Ibson Kahn, age 44, passed away suddenly, October 20, 2009.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 30, 2009 at Dunbar Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

In remembrance of Matthew, memorial contributions may be made to the Home School Foundation, P. O. Box 1152, Purcellville, VA 20134-1152.

Bill E.W. Glass (October 16, 1939 – October 22, 2009)

Roebuck, SC – Bill E. W. Glass, age 70, passed away at his home, on October 22, 2009.

Bill was born in Turkey Branch, Alabama on October 16, 1939 to the late Erbie William and Flora Jeanne Perry Glass. He was the retired owner/operator of Spartan Incineration.

Bill is survived by a son Bradley Glass and a daughter Brittany Glass, both of Roebuck, SC; several brothers and sisters and many loving friends.

The family will receive friends today, October 23, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bill’s home.

Linwood E. Sanders (February 13, 1948 – October 17, 2009)

Spartanburg – Linwood E. Sanders, age 61, passed away October 17, 2009 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Linwood was born in Spartanburg on February 13, 1948 to the late Carl Paul and Marie Elizabeth Williams Sanders. He was formerly employed by Price’s machinery and attended South Church Street Church of God.

Linwood is survived by his wife, Janice Cudd Sanders, of 41 years; a daughter, Lisa Dawn Williams and her husband Art of Travelers Rest, SC; two sons, Linwood Earnest Sanders, Jr. of Spartanburg and Bryan William Sanders of Duncan, SC; two brothers, Carl W. Sanders and his wife Diane of Roebuck, SC and Kenneth Sanders and his wife Betty of Startex, SC and two sisters, Carolyn Gilbert and Rita Peeler, both of Arcadia, SC. He was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn White.

Tamra Wilder Silvey (May 9, 1958 – October 15, 2009)

Roebuck – Tamra Wilder Silvey, age 51, passed away October 15, 2009 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Tamra was born in Spartanburg County, May 9, 1958 to the late Harry K. Wilder. She was formerly employed by Milliken Research and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by her mother, Joyce Wilder Fincher and her husband Posey; two sons, Travis Silvey of Spartanburg, Dustin Silvey of Roebuck; a brother, Tim Wilder and his wife Rhonda of Pauline; a sister, Tracie Smith and her husband Kenneth of Roebuck; her maternal grandmother, Rhuleen Petty of Pauline; and a granddaughter, Brooke Silvey of Roebuck.

John William Fowler (October 29, 1924 – October 14, 2009)

Spartanburg – John “Shorty” William Fowler, age 84, husband of Barbara Tillotson Fowler, passed away October 14, 2009 at his home.

Shorty was born in Spartanburg County, October 29, 1924 to the late Clyde and Bertha Worley Fowler. He was a retired maintenance worker for Spartanburg Housing Authority, a retired member of the Westview-Fariforest Volunteer Fire Department and a member of River View Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Shorty is survived by two daughters, Sandra Fowler and her husband Michael of Spartanburg, Susan Hines and her husband Proctor of Spartanburg and two sisters, Merle Winstead of Walhalla, SC and Bernice Staton of Cowpens, SC. He was blessed with a granddaughter, Elizabeth Hines. Shorty was predeceased by a son, Timothy Mark Fowler and two sisters, Lucille Million and Pauline Teaster.

James Ferrell Corbett (October 29, 1950 – October 6, 2009)

Spartanburg, SC – James Ferrell Corbett, 58, beloved son of Wyleen Jolley Corbett and the late Warren Paris Corbett, Sr., died October 6, 2009 at the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center Hospice Home following a valiant two-year battle with cancer.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Corbett is also survived by a daughter, Megan Malone Corbett of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Cynthia Corbett Beacham and husband David of Spartanburg, SC; a brother, Warren Paris Corbett, Jr. of Bethesda, MD; two nieces, Anne Collier Corbett and Samantha Horrocks of Rochester, NY; and a large extended family of aunts and cousins in SC, GA and FL.
