Lucille Richardson (Dec. 4, 1921 – April 27, 2009)

Ralph E. Lowe (May 6, 1916 – April 26, 2009)

Spartanburg – Ralph E. Lowe, age 92 died Sunday, April 26, 2009.

Born May 6, 1916 in Pike County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Tandy B. and Etta Jane Caudill Lowe and the beloved husband of the late Wahta Lee Keel Lowe.

Mr. Lowe was a true patriot, serving his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was on the first wave of the invasion of Normandy at Utah Beach, and a member of the 49th Engineers Construction Battalion. As a master carpenter, he moved to Aiken, SC in 1954 and retired to Spartanburg in 1983. He was a member of the Inman American Legion #0045 and was of the Methodist faith.

John F. Dulken (January 18, 1925 – April 18, 2009)

Spartanburg – John Frederick Dulken, age 84, passed away Saturday evening, April 18, 2009, at his home, Greylogs.

Born January 18, 1925, in Rheydt, Germany, Mr. Dulken was a son of the late Charles F. and Margaret Lammertz Dulken. He served in WWII as an officer in the 8th Air Force, European Theatre. He attended Lowell Textile Institute and was employed with Rieter Textile Machinery Company in Winterthur Switzerland. In 1950, Mr. Dulken was responsible for establishing American Rieter in New Jersey. In 1961, he moved his family and re-located the company to Spartanburg, where he retired in 1985. Mr. Dulken was a member of many organizations in Spartanburg which included; Music Foundation of Spartanburg, The Spectator Club, The Charles Lea Foundation, Brevard Music Center as well as Mobile Meals, where he delivered meals for over twenty-five years. Mr. Dulken was also an avid bird hunter, Heliskier, water skier, classical music enthusiast, conservative political activist and a world traveler. He was a member of St. Francis Anglican Church.

Blanche S. Littlefield (April 15, 1914 – April 15, 2009)

Moore, SC – Blanche S. Littlefield, age 95, widow of the late Henry A. Littlefield, died Tuesday, April 15, 2009, on her birthday, at her home.

Born in Pauline, SC on April 15, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Parrott M. and Eva Riddle Scott. Mrs. Littlefield was a charter member of Beaver Hills Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher for both the children and adults, was the director of the W.M.U. and sang in the choir.

Wayne Edward Cook (December 30, 1952 – April 13, 2009)

Enoree, SC – Wayne Edward Cook, age 56, died Monday, April 13, at his home.

Wayne was born in Spartanburg, SC on December 30, 1952. He was a loving son of Hazel Cook Wilson and the late Kenneth Edward Cook. Wayne was raised in the Bethesda Community, attended Pacolet High School and was a framing contractor. He served in the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith.

Melvin Frank Bagwell (April 29, 1929 – April 5, 2009)

Spartanburg – Melvin Frank Bagwell, husband of Barbara Zimmerman Bagwell, died Sunday, April 5, 2009 at White Oak Estates.

Mr. Bagwell was born in Spartanburg on April 29, 1929 to the late Frank and Lyda Bishop Bagwell. Mr. Bagwell was a graduate of Wofford College, where he majored in Physics. He retired from Dupont after 35 years of service. Mr. Bagwell enjoyed flying and was a former flight instructor and a former member of the Civil Air Patrol. He was also a member of Roebuck Baptist Church.

Cecil Paul “Pop” Pruitt (June 30, 1928-April 3, 2009)

Spartanburg – Cecil Paul “Pop” Pruitt died Friday evening, April 3, 2009 at his home surrounded by the love of his family.

Mr. Pruitt was born in Walnut Grove on June 30, 1928. He was the son of the late Grady and Maggie Gilliam Pruitt. Mr. Pruitt faithfully served his country in the United States Army where he was a horseshoe champion. He was a volunteer fireman with Westview Fairforest Fire Department for 28 years. He was retired from the Spartanburg Housing Authority and was a driver for Carolina Express Delivery. Mr. Pruitt was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he served as usher and a member of the Berean Sunday School Class. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
