Spartanburg, SC – Archie W. Walker, age 88, husband of the late Dorothy White Walker, died February 27, 2009.

Spartanburg, SC – Jeff P. Ramsey, age 46, husband of Janie Newell Ramsey, died February 24, 2009.
Born in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late Dr. Paul E. Ramsey, Jr. and Patricia Reid Ramsey. Jeff was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, class of 1980. He attended the Art Institute of Atlanta and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Jeff enjoyed the outdoors and was a creative builder. Jeff is survived by two daughters, Amber Ceress and Erin Leigh Ramsey, of the home and two brothers; Phil Ramsey of Charleston, SC and Mark Ramsey of Wellford, SC. He was predeceased by a brother Patrick Eugene Ramsey. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Morningside Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Dr. Wayne F. Hyatt. The family will receive friends following the service at the home. Memorials may be given in remembrance of Jeff to The Ramsey Educational Fund, 229 Maxine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
U.S. Veteran Moore – Charles Edward Moore, age 85, husband of Betty J. Moore, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at the Hospital for Restorative Care.
Spartanburg – James Robert “Robbie” Sawyer, Jr., the son of the late James Robert and Marietta Gossett Sawyer, Sr. died Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Medical University in Charleston, S.C.
Robbie was a native of Spartanburg and served his country faithfully in the United States Navy. He was active in the Fairforest Masonic Lodge #393 and was a Shriner. Robbie was a retired electrician with Daniels Construction Company. He will be fondly remembered as a loving father, grandfather and a friend to many.
Gameel Byron (G.B.) Hodge, MD (September 16, 1917 Spartanburg, SC – February 23, 2009 Spartanburg, SC)
A native of Spartanburg, he was a son of Charles B. and Mary B. Hodge and the husband of Katie Adams Hodge. He was predeceased by his siblings Josephine, Sarah, Jim, Joe, and Margaret Hodge.
He is survived by his children: Susan Adams Hodge of Spartanburg, G. Byron Hodge, Jr., MD (Janet) of Lakeland, FL, and John Adams Hodge (Sharon) of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren: Thomas Hodge and Rachel Saul (Ryan) of Florida, and John Adams Hodge II and David James Hodge of Columbia; 3 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces and 6 nephews including Jamie Hodge (Laura), Mia Thompson (Jim), and Charlie Hodge (Ellen) of Spartanburg.
Spartanburg – Dr. Richard E. “Ric” Campbell, DMD, age 54, husband of Sherri Brady Campbell, passed away after a brief illness, Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.
Ric was born June 25, 1954, in Greenville, SC and was a son of Allen H. and Margaret Burns Campbell. He was a 1976 graduate of Davidson College and a 1981 graduate of MUSC College of Dentistry. Ric was an associate of Satterfield, Satterfield and Campbell, DMD, and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife and parents, Ric is survived by a daughter, Allee Campbell of Spartanburg; a brother, Mitch Campbell of Charleston, SC; two sisters; Tam Gregory and her husband Clark of Columbia, SC; Shari Turner of Inman, SC; a niece Sallie Gregory of Columbia, SC and two nephews Wil Gregory of Columbia, SC and Alec Turner of Inman, SC.
Shirley Ann Garrett “Nanny”
Spartanburg – Shirley Ann Garrett age 68, beloved wife of Harold Allen Garrett, died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.
Born on July 27, 1940, in Spartanburg, Shirley was a daughter of the late Narles and Marry Jane West Nichols. She was a retired seamstress from Whitestone Manufacturing. Shirley was a member of Canaan Baptist Church. Shirley was a mother and “Nanny” to many within her extended family and friends.
Spartanburg, S.C. – Glenn Senn, age 79, passed away, Friday, February 13, 2009 at Windsor House West.
Born in Laurens County on August 8, 1929, he was the son of the late James Norman and Lura Burns Senn. He was employed with Sears Roebuck as a Sales Associate and faithfully served in the United States Army. Mr. Senn was a member of the American Legion, and volunteered with the Salvation Army and Meals on Wheels. Mr. Senn was a member of Tucapau Baptist Church. Mr. Senn is survived by three sons, David Senn and his wife Rhonda of Lyman, Ray Senn of Spartanburg, Douglas Senn and his wife Monica of Spartanburg; a daughter, Patricia Strittholt of Cincinnati, Ohio; a step-daughter, Shearon Linderman of Pauline; a brother, James Senn of California; a sister, Jeanette Kelly of Georgia; nine grandchildren, Kimberly Karasick, Amy Parlier, Angela Strittholt, Brandi Bailey, India Senn, Dillon Senn, Sarah Senn, Austin Senn, and Chris Henderson; and four great-grandchildren.
Spartanburg – Mary Priscilla Brown, age 89, wife of the late Joseph Clayton Brown, died on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Born in Landrum, SC on December 3, 1919, she was a daughter of the late James Lem and Carrie Watson Barton. Mary was retired from Fairforest Finishing Plant and a member of the First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg.
She is survived by a son, Robert “Robbie” C. Brown and his wife, Gaynelle of Moore, SC and a daughter; Ann Norris of Myrtle Beach, SC. Mary was blessed with 2 grandchildren; Jeff Brown and his wife Lorie of Charlotte, NC; Robin Wilson of McKinney, TX and 4 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Geneva Henderson.
